3M Safety Series Overview

Energy Products Distribution (EPD), a 3M Master Distributor since 1985, sells 3M Safety Series window films as a budget-friendly safety and security option for projects that need to help hold broken glass in place. These clear, PET-based films help reduce the hazards associated with shattered glass from blast events, blunt force impact, seismic events, windstorms, and spontaneous glass breakage.

3M Safety Series films are available in four thicknesses to match a range of project requirements and specifications.

  • S40: 4-mil single-ply film for projects with no minimum film thickness requirement, available in interior and exterior versions
  • S70: 7-mil single-ply film that meets most GSA and other US Government thickness-based specifications for blast mitigation, available in interior and exterior versions
  • S80: 8-mil 2-ply film that meets most GSA and other US Government thickness-based specifications for blast mitigation
  • S140: 14-mil 3-ply film tested to UL 972, and used alongside ULTRA S800 and S2400 for school hardening projects throughout the US

What We Love About 3M Safety Series

3M Safety Series gives 3M Dealers a dependable option to recommend when a client needs safety and security performance but is working within a tighter budget. With four thicknesses available, dealers can match the film to the project, whether that is meeting a thickness-based government specification with S70 or S80, or providing a thicker option like S140 for school and facility hardening.

Important Installation Information

3M Safety Series films are not bulletproof. They help hold glass together and can buy time during a forced entry attempt, but they cannot fully prevent glass breakage or entry. All installations must follow 3M technical specifications and instruction guidelines, including the installation of 3M’s Impact Protection Attachment (IPA) system. (These films are also not approved in the State of Florida for use as hurricane, windstorm, or impact protection from wind-borne debris.)

How to Buy 3M Safety Series
