3M ULTRA Series Overview

Energy Products Distribution (EPD), a 3M Master Distributor since 1985, sells 3M Scotchshield ULTRA Series Safety and Security Window Films as a premium option for projects that need to help hold broken glass in place. ULTRA Series films are made from microcomposite, interwoven layers of polyester (PET), which gives them greater tear resistance than standard security films of similar thickness.

  • ULTRA S800: Clear 8-mil microcomposite film used widely for school hardening, blast mitigation, and helping deter smash-and-grab crime. Meets most GSA and other US Government thickness-based specifications for fragment retention caused by bomb blasts
  • ULTRA Night Vision S25: 8-mil security film that pairs a 6-mil clear ULTRA security film with Night Vision 25 (2 mils) for security plus privacy, glare reduction, and heat rejection

Important Installation Information

3M ULTRA Series films are not bulletproof. They help hold glass together and can buy time during a forced entry attempt, but they cannot fully prevent glass breakage or entry. All installations must follow 3M technical specifications and instruction guidelines, including the installation of 3M’s Impact Protection Attachment (IPA) system. (These films are also not approved in the State of Florida for use as hurricane, windstorm, or impact protection from wind-borne debris.)
