3M Prestige Series Overview

Energy Products Distribution (EPD) sells 3M Prestige Series sun control window films as a metal-free option for clients who want strong infrared heat rejection without blocking visible light or adding reflectivity. Made of over 200 nano-layers of polyester, Prestige films are tuned to block infrared heat (900-1,000 nm) rather than visible light, so they stay virtually colorless and clear. They also carry no GPS, cell signal, or key fob interference, which is a common concern with metallized films. Prestige is available in an interior series and an exterior series.

Interior 3M Prestige Series

Installed on the interior surface of the glass.

  • PR20: 20% visible light transmission, the darkest interior option, for clients wanting a dark, non-reflective film
  • PR40: 40% visible light transmission, a medium dark option for strong performance without a heavy tint
  • PR50: 50% visible light transmission, a balance point often used for floor-to-ceiling commercial glass
  • PR60: 60% visible light transmission, for clients who want more natural light than PR50 with more performance than PR70
  • PR70: 70% visible light transmission, the lightest interior option, for clients focused on UV reduction

Exterior 3M Prestige Series

Installed on the exterior surface of the glass, no edge sealing required (in most cases).

  • PR20 Exterior: 20% visible light transmission, the darkest exterior option, for maximum solar heat gain and glare reduction
  • PR40 Exterior: 40% visible light transmission, for heat and glare reduction without substantially darkening the window
  • PR50 Exterior: 50% visible light transmission, positioned between PR40 Exterior and PR70 Exterior
  • PR70 Exterior: 70% visible light transmission, for moderate heat reduction without darkening the window
  • PR90 Exterior: 90% visible light transmission, the lightest option, for clients focused on UV reduction
