3M Dusted & Frosted Crystal Finishes

The perfect value-engineered alternative to sandblasted or etched glass.

These industry-leading vinyl films create privacy and disperse light at 1/3 of the price of sandblasted or etched glass. You can simulate the same look but with a lot more flexibility – including the ability to install the film outside. Additional flexibility includes the ability to digitally print onto the film and computer cut it into logos or designs for unique branding, especially for distraction markings.

Distraction Markings

Building codes often require the use of distraction markings to identify glass and minimize human safety impact threats. 3M Dusted and Frosted Crystal Finishes make glass more visible and can reduce the threat of human impact (walking into glass). Because 3M Crystal Finishes can be computer cut, you can create the custom distraction markers of choice.

Besides the limited number of patterns and greater warranty term, 3M Dusted and Frosted Crystals are vinyl films whereas 3M Fasara is polyester. The general differences between vinyl and polyester films are:

  • Polyester is easier than vinyl to handle and install
  • Vinyl is thinner, more stretchable, and easier to tear than polyester
  • Vinyl may require more installers than polyester to manage and position the film
  • While vinyl can be removed, it is more difficult than polyester to remove
  • Vinyl is easier than polyester to computer cut into various designs, including for distraction markers
