Car Dealerships
Automotive Window Film
Shortly after purchase, many consumers take their new vehicles to the local tint shop to have automotive window film installed. Whether for privacy, aesthetics, or comfort, car tint is a welcome aftermarket addition to any vehicle.
Dealerships, especially those in the sunbelt, pre-load inventory with automotive window film, recognizing that the consumer is going to take their new vehicle elsewhere for the requisite tint.
3M offers dealerships a high-quality, entry-level, lifetime warranty film that is ideal for pre-loading. The film, known as 3M Obsidian Automotive Window Film, is computer cut according to the year, make, model, and trim level of the vehicle. It is then installed on a car using in-house labor or sub-contracted to a 3M certified installer.
Paint Protection Film
Paint Protection Film (PPF) is a .008” thick urethane film that is computer cut according to the year, make, model, and trim level of the vehicle, to protect the painted surfaces from rock chips and other road rash. It is then installed on a car using in-house labor or sub-contracted to a 3M certified installer with a nationwide warranty.
Many dealerships know that paint protection film (PPF) is valued by car buyers and adds to the bottom line. This clear film replaces bulky vinyl bras and plastic deflectors and helps to keep hoods, bumpers, door posts, fenders, and mirror backs looking new longer. Even those leasing a new car find value in PPF because the vehicle's appearance is better preserved, thus reducing the potential for assessed penalties at the end of the lease term.
PPF is a great revenue enhancer that can generate $1,000+ in gross profit per car. In addition to being a revenue generator, PPF can also increase CSI ratings. Post-sale rock chips are major complaints among new car buyers, thus driving down a dealership’s CSI. PPF will minimize these complaints.

Ceramic Coating
Ceramic Coating is a thin — yet measurable — layer of silicone applied to a car’s paint, wheels, plastic, and glass, decreasing the surface’s friction coefficient. In so doing, dirt, dust, and other debris wash off the vehicle much easier, thereby preserving its appearance for years to come. It would not be unfair to say that ceramic coating is the next generation of automotive wax.
Dealerships can easily and quickly apply 3M’s ceramic coating to a vehicle as part of the PDI process and add it as an addendum next to the Monroney sticker. 3M Ceramic Coating can also be purchased in F&I as a complementary product to interior / exterior protection packages. It features a five (5) year nationwide warranty.
