How 3M Protection Wrap Films Get Their Color

3M employs a sophisticated manufacturing process to produce an all-in-one film that combines the benefits of paint protection film and color change vinyl. Unlike other color paint protection films that are made by laminating urethane on top of a colored layer, 3M Protection Wrap Films get their color from pigmentation. That means the color is embedded in the urethane for stability and longevity.

Vinyl Wrap vs. 3M Protection Wrap Film

Some users feel that vinyl wrap film, given its thinner nature, isn’t as durable as paint protection film and is also more difficult to maintain. That’s simply because vinyl behaves differently than urethane, which is the base material of PPF.

3M Protection Wrap Film (PWF) addresses that concern because its base material is urethane, which is more durable and easier to maintain than vinyl. You can treat PWF just like you treat your car’s paint. That is because PWF is clear coated, just like paint and 3M’s paint protection films. Light scratches that occur under normal driving conditions can self-heal or be worked out easily with heat. And unlike most vinyl color change films, 3M PWF is backed by a ten (10) year manufacturer’s warranty.
