The Cause of Glare
Have you ever noticed that there is no glare at night? That’s because it is sunlight that causes glare and eyestrain. If you reduce the amount of the sun’s visible light that enters your home or office, you will reduce the amount of glare on your computer, tablet, television, etc.
Reduce Glare & Eye Strain with Tinted Window Film
You can reduce the amount of visible light entering a window by making the window darker. It’s just like a pair of sunglasses. Although many of 3M’s window films are clear and colorless, others are meant to darken a window to mitigate glare. The darker the film, the more glare that will be reduced. (You cannot mitigate glare with a clear film.)
A Fun Fact
Glare Reduction is calculated by the percent change of visible light transmission (VLT) before and after window film. For example:
VLT Before Film: 90%
VLT After Film: 50%
Glare Reduction = (50%-90%) / 90% = 44% reduction
